Its 3 36 am !!! and I am still awake: let me say wide awake.
I was watching some videos on youtube : Indias got Talent show: semi finals.
Amazing. Simply amazing.
I just cant stop myself from watching these people perform. Kya talent hai , ohh my god. Strangely more or less all of them come from a not-so-settled background! yet they have a junoon...that josh to push the limits and do something creative.
People, if you haven't watched it as of now then pls with no further adieu, pls do so.

Sach ka Samna

Having desi tv here in US has its own pros and cons...On one hand desi tv has got so many interesting things to enjoy. But that's not where it ends, I have observed this recent increase in REAL life shows.We recently enjoyed Roadies to its fullest. The masti, the competition, those meaningless fights and much more...It was all fun.

If that was not enough , thr was this other show on Mtv: Splits villa !!
One hell of a stupid show with loads of young guys and gals competing to get to the top..This show really got dirty in like 2 episodes and we stopped following.

The other day my friend told me about another addition to this list
"Rakhi ka Swamyamwer:: Yes , yes, this show does precisely what it says.
Rakhi is looking for his Dude and apparently she claims that she is going to marry the winner.Now that's a real classy act.I really do not wish to spare any more time on this show...I do want to confess tho: I definitely want to see one episode !!! dekhe to kis kis level ki harkate hoti hai yaha pe.

Neways its almost as if it was not enough, one more show has come up.
SACH ka Samna...sounds interesting !! Well it sure is.Very Very Interesting.
For those who dont know, its another 21 question-answer session: one who does it all wins a hefty sum.This time around its not the usual "slumdog Millionaire" types.

The contestant is asked about 21 questions during this show. They connect some ultra high tech devices and track his brain waves/bp/ and what now.All this is analysed to see if he or she is speaking truth: The show is "Sach ka Samna" and as you guessed if you tell a lie: you are busted , show ends..its time to go home.
Sounds simple..and yeah interesting to watch ..

BUT....
This show gets real nasty. No kidding.The questions get so personal. I wonder how come these people answer such questions.Even if they are telling the truth , they are putting on line everything they have...the most imp part of life : relations !
Questions range from
: have you ever lied in front of your parents ?
to
: Do you wish to divorce your husband ?

: Do you think your mom dad gave you , your share of love ?
to
: Do you have an affair with your brother in law !

and that level is just an average level of intimacy ! The show claims it gets more intimate as they get closer to the big buck ! now come on man...it cant get any worse.Anyways, for whatever reason people come to this show : I feel its sick.
I had a discussion with Vandita the other day as to why this show is ridiculous.
Yes it gives one opportunity to get out some truths out but hey..is that at the price of your relations ! yeah ...Show producers are milking these naive contestants.
They call in contestant that have peculiar life..very peculiar, Out of the 3 shows we have seen : all the 8/9 contestants have had very hard times in thr lives.
Marriage issues :Divorce / parents split / second marriage/ job issues and what not.
First of all I don't get : y such people show up..you have problems with your life..stay back ..relax , try to sort it out..give it a shot..if it doesn't work let it go.Y do you guys want to contest in such shows and vent out more venom for your "once close" friends/relatives...y !!!Its not going to fetch them any good..yes you stand a chance to win the lumsum prize but at what price...what use is that money if you don't have your loved ones around to enjoy it.. May god help them think and decide what is good for them.

We got really involved while watching few of the shows. This lady was filled with so much negativity in her childhood that all she thinks right now is how sad the world is and how bad people can be to her.We felt bad that Y such people show up on this show..all her family members are sitting in front of the camera(on the show) and tearing apart each others image/relation. I felt really bad today for these people.

I hope we get to see less on the same lines.

yes thats the topic that my dad was discussing with me the other day.

Looks like hes upto a new venture. Writing his second book
M so proud of my dad, he comes up with amazing ideas, I wish I could be like him..

neways so this last weekend, I called him early morning: just like that to see whats going on at Nagpur and damn he asks me if he can read me thru some of his lines that hes been working on. I obviously ask him to walk me thru his thing...
and I am so happy that I did that :)

next 15 mins I had the time of my life. I was so happy to listen to him and to be frank I did learn a lesson: have heard/read this so many times yet this time when it came from dads mouth: it suddenly made so much sense.

Since Saturday, I have been trying : every morning that I wake up I try and say it to myself , out loud and clear: Hey what a nice day , Good morning and start da day with a smile and a cheerful setting !

It sure has made a difference.
Lets see how it goes from here.Thanks dad for reminding me this golden truth.
and yes I am waiting desperately to read his book !

Countdown begins...

3 years in US...

These last few days have been really hectic. Time is flying ..
With a blissful engaged life, added responsibilities ,career concerns and associated struggle and hard work.. everything has been piled up and 24hours really seem less.

With so much to do , so much to look forward to ..I nearly fgt this day..27th July..
Today I will be completing 3 yrs in US...I can definitely say its been a whirlwind experience..I was waiting for this day since a while. In the first week of July I was planning to write up something specially dedicated to these 3 years of my life.

and as I sad it can be..Today m really feeling bad that I cannot devote as much time and energy that I really wanted to write an article for this day. Anyways, my dad called me write now saying "beta tula jaaon aaa 3 wersha jhale" I could definitely feel the heat in thr..He was really feeling sad about this whole thing. At least I guess so..it was not about my career/life it was me being away from the family..these few imp years when I really should be with them....

anyways, I wonder if all this is the best that I could offer them for all that they have done for me..sacrificed for my well being.. I wish I can go back to des as soon as possible and be with them for time to come, compensate for the lost times...

Apart from this front, life seems to have been playing a fair game. Looks green for now,I hope it does. Apart from all the good things that I have witnessed I believe meeting my life partner has been the biggest and most important phase. Soon we will be completing 1 year of committed relationship. Cant believe but its True..it feels just yesterday that we met and next month it will be one full yr !! I am so happy that I found her. She has been a loving/caring and one of the most understanding person in my life. She accepts Nikhil, with his my eccentric traits and even praises a few of them that even I wonder ..why ??? I love you dear..

All in all it will be difficult to phrase my feelings in words....
Happy for being with my partner, Vandita, and having a blissful life.
Sad for not being with aai , baba , ketki and aaji..I miss you all..love you loads..

lets see what life has in store for us in the coming year..

It was a hectic week altogether. Got up on friday around 7 am. was about to go for bath when it struck me about an I day...alrite I day in my office is " Sick - ill day " . nd yu can take as many number of I days in a year as yu want.( until your manager really looks back at you :P)
So took this holiday and totally had a ball at my place. basically did nothing and spent one day full at home doing NOHTING. So unlike what I am ..but yeah it was a welcome change.

Neways recently we had this huge discussion at our daily chore of evening walk. We all were talking against us :) .... Amazing aint it

So here it goes. Recently everyones family members are kinda looking for marriage. Everyone wants to get their son/daughter get married like asap. They want us to get serious on this topic and look "AROUND". Now when someone asks them how thr son/daughter is?? they start with thr whole thing..Yeah yeah every mom thinks that hes got the best son and every dad thinks that hes son is like the brightest kid around rather only guy with all the qualities bestowed. Not that its thr fault probably every parent thinks that way. Even they are totally aware that there are guys who are far too much talented than thr son, they kinda ignore that fact pretty nicely. nd they are good at it. So anyways, in this whole confusion of whether we are good or not..one question popped in our discussion.

Mom dad apart. Given a condition, that my friend has a sister. His family thinks that I am "good" guy and approaches my family for the same. NOW that my friend knows me so NICELY..he knows what I think ..what I do ...what I crave for ...what goes in my mind forever..he totally knows me...he has been an accomplice in all my crimes or atleast witnessed everyone of them. He knows how irresponsible I can be.. how spendthrift I can be !!!!! he knows all my "vices".. Would he still recommend that I am "good" guy !!!

After the heated debate we all decide that we wont and wud never suggest each other for our own sisters :))))

To the added responsibility

Its been more than 1 year working with Bloomberg and man was it not an amazing experience !! From the initial hiccups and trying to understand the environment to handling responsibilities, its been a whirlwind learning experience.

Today I got my first PARENT TREQ - Bloomberg lingo for a new project.
Not that I wasnt working for the past whole year but this time its more of a full blown project.Arranging meetings with clients/Business side/managers, gathering requirements ohh man it was fun.

Lets see how all this works out...

Not that, I am waiting desperately for this phase to go away....

Often times I just wonder does this phase ever ends ?
The phase when yu think of learning/doing/preparing for "something" so as to attain your "Next Brand New GOAL", yeah isnt it True, this crippy beast name "GOAL" just keeps on changing. It manifests itself in such not so forgettable manner that , more than often times, we tend to keep working towards it.

I do not recall exactly how hard my mom-dad must have tried to to get me into this studying business when I was a kid and by kid I mean a real kid like KG1 - KG2 types. From whatever lil I know about myself, one thing is for sure, I was definitely not one of those top ranking nerds in class. I was one of thos Back-Benchers who often shared the "Taaj" for "Baata-meej_kala_dhabba kind kids.

Its been a long journey since then. So much has gone by, nd so much is yet to come,
Yet I believe, only one thing has remained constant, DESIRE to do "something"...
This somehting word has gone places and makes me go places.

It was my dad who used to instruct me about this "entity".
Things have changed since then and now its me, myself who is searching for that next "something". More than the search it is more of a realisation in process .....

I wonder does this ever ends ? Does this search for that lil something ever reaches its "final destination" !!! I wish it does. Life without that lil something is goona be so boring with only mundane stuff to be taken care of.

As much as I always need the NEXT GOAL in my mind, I also wish to bath in the joy of my current Destination, coz no matter how small it might seem right now, it was once my "NEXT SOMETHING"

It was a serene riverwalk today, calm and peacefull, but dint really last for long :)

Old advertisements !!! and by that I mean age old ads, that used to come on Doordarshan. Slowly Doordarshan went away and Star / Zee / Sony stepped in. Interestingly they totally took care of the Adversiment tradition.

I remember those days when we guys used to flip channels during those 2 min add breaks. Now I fail to understand, that, what was the fun in doing that but I can bet, everyone in his/her age did tat. And not even a single parent exits on the face of this earth who dint shout for that 2 min channel surfing :D

Being Contended ....

It was only yesterday that I was sitting in the Lab at South Carolina and getting done with some programming assignemnt or more so preparing for midterm....nd its tday. So much has gone by so much has already occurred and looks like much more is about to :)

From being jobless to working in one of the well known financial firm ...from wasting time in the worthless conversations to talking to real life Clients ( Bloomberg Clients )...from being SINGLE to being Committed, everything has changed , and Luckily , changed for the better.

Though, every change in the life style has lead to some change in my personality, the biggest change has been the one from SINGLE - > Committed status. It all feels different. It all feels wonderful. Life looks more stable to me now.

From a mere orkut frnd-> Yahoo chat -> phone conversations..it just clicked.
and I am utmost happy that IT DID.

For now I feel really really content with all that has happened. It couldn't have been any more better. Just wanted to jot down this feeling that I am having rite now...this feeling of being contended with what I am ....what I have...everything..

One fine day in future, I would want to read this and feel contended then , about being contended all the way .............

Was that ...9/11 again !!!!

First thought that ran thru my mind "Ooooh My god..Is it 9/11 again. ? "
nd I would be lying if I say that I was alone when that chill ran down my spine.

Its 5 25 pm here at 59 th street. I come down to my office exit, walk out of the building and all I see is people lined up, shouting , few running around, cops patrolling. I turn around and all I see is SMOKE....Its 42nd street - Lex Avenue ( Times Square around if that rings a bell ). Man whatever it was, it made us think ...and we guys shouted ....DONT TELL ME...... 9/11 again !!!

Fortunately in two mins it was clear it wasnt the case that some high rise was comin down. Gave us a ray of hope , We are SAFE. But all the traffic was down , pple running around like crazy , shouting for help , cop cars blaring loud alarms, all those beaming lights flashing ! It was crazy , it was scary. People were vacating the whole area.One of our friends suggested we better leave the area and head back home and be safe. More than half of our gang agreed but for two guys. How could I possibly leave the area w/o knowing what was going on ...w/o checking out the whole scene from like real close ! Thankfully I had one mre crazy guy in our grp who dint want to go home bt NEAR that SMOKY area. So off we were in a flash. It all happened in a whisker, some of us left for home, two guys decided to stay back thr and watch whats going on and me nd my frnd decided to head towards the actual SITE.

Traffic Blocked. more than half of them were running away from the "area" but we two were not the only two crazy guys around, we had other bunch of people who were also heading in the not-so-correct direction. in 10 mins around we were at 44 st street and was it not, one hell of a moment. All yu can see in front or rather you cant see is the Chrysler Building ( guess more than 50 Floor high ) coz its totally engulfed in smoke. Apparently one of the transformer below had exploded. The amount of smoke made it clear that it was not a normal step up/dwn one but some massive piece of shit. Along with that, one steam carrying pipeline also exploded and so things were going outa hand. Before we knew, the area was a mess. Everyone scatterd, hundreds of ambulance, thousands of cops with all the honking horns and atleast a dozen Choppers circling the area. It wasnt a total 9/11 thing but nothing less than that. Everyone was fearing if some building is comin down !!! It was crazy and scared the shit out of everyone.

Whole of the area was covered with Cops, reporters, life guards, special force cops and choppers..It was kinda disastrous look with all the smoke and steam climbing up the buildings.
I took video/ pics which ill soon upload.

The whole thing continued for about 2 hours with cops pushing further the Barricade limits and reporters taking onsite interviews and giving it total MOVIE like look( volcano/ earthquake types) with only difference that LIFE TOLL was real in this case :( . Though its being said that incident resulted in one casualty and 20 injured, still its goona be only tomrw morning when things bcme clear.

It was a event that did shook us. It was totally worth witnessing. This third angle narration is just not comparable to the 1st angle view that we had. They arent lying when they say ," NY>>>its one hell of a happening place."

It all looks different and worth witnessing now, with all excitemnt and glamour ......now that we are SAFE.....I wonder wat would have been the case during 9/11 .

It reminds me of the time when we used to play "Play Station" back in our Masters busy schedule !!! every time we played this game (four at a time ) with all that shouting and enthusiasm nd leg pulling, the guy who used to fire the best shot or shoot the max number of targets used to shout... "heyyy...WHOS yur Daadies " and
others are like " aey rook rey next game me mil ...tu aa bas ..tu aa to :P "
never really knew how much imp this phrase was..

Anyways the reason I bring up this is for a reason.
Today on the way back home I met this guy in subway ..Desi working with me on the same floor that I do. We got into discussion about Bloomberg and y we are working for the company.....why what where and all. I came to know that this guys from IIM - C. nd I always respect these IIM guys..those sharp shoooters and those people who do good in these kinda exams and shine rite in thr childhood...always wanted to be one of them but apparently I was not up to my studies back then ! Neways these guys always stand inspring to me in thr own lil ways..

I was a lil surprised to see a IIM guy working for Bloomberg that too in S/W side !!! so we had this discussion and man ..was I not impressed. These guys are just too much .

They precisely know what they want from thr life..
They totally understand how they need to work on the current to get to thr future ..
They JUST KNOW IT .

not that I dont know what m doing or whr m going...bt they just impress me .

Thr is just enugh to learn from each and every one of them. Well the fact is recently I was getting this vicarious feeling that yeah its going good with me and probably I have attained what I wanted to !!! probably m standing good the place whr I am !!!

bt yu know what its always good to talk to these guys who are yu know SMART and who are always fired up ..yu get to know that come what may...do whatever yu can ..attain all the success that yu can ....be as happy as yu can about yurself...

yu will always find sme1...who can say ..whos yur daddies :)
