Back to normalcy :)

I believe it has been like atleast 10-12 days that I have been to this page !!!
yeah, I was not keeping well.

I always knew that I am special hehe..Special in a crazy way...

Things and incidents that generally everyone knows that "wont" happen .....Definitely happen in my case and happen in a big way nonetheless!!!

This time it was a sad turn from my health point of view.

I wasn't keeping well and that too in a BIG way. I was suffering from Chicken Pox !!!!
Now I wonder how come I got hold of this crazy thing ....NO kidding even the Doctor who diagnosed me was wondering bout how could I manage to get hold of this beast here at US. Its not that common over here(atleast not with adults !!!) and I don't even remember if I came in contact with someone who was suffering from one .....

Neways, 7-10 grueling dayz have gone and now I am back to Normalcy.
My roommates helped me a lot with food and all room service(blessing in disguise :D )
Have a few scars remaining on my face and all but m just hoping that I get rid of them soon ..damnit....and waannna seriously get rid of them pretty soon !!!

Anyways, took immense rest and break from studies/assignment and they are all just lying ahead, waiting to be completed.

Next 7 days ...and I will be done with them once and for all !!!!

TOW da weekend and Graduation

Its November' 11. Last week same day, same time I was sitting at this very same position with da same lapot in my lap :D but apparently things seem so different right now.

I was chatting with my friend and we were discussing something very important, something that could have been the reason for us to think bout our future and plan accordingly..............
forget it, we were discussing about songs, mostly english, including all genres and we were having a gala time :D That just shows how much free time we both had here at US.

Gosh...I cant even dream of doin that or for that matter anything that involves dawdling time away. One busy week has already passed and I believe lot is already in store for the coming weeks. Few assignments, Projects, Final terms, VolleyBall matches :P , and most important of all few onsite interviews.....few more busy weeks and then off we would be...

Anyways, "Graduation"----a near end of life in Columbia or should I say life at "CLIFF apartment, Strom Thurmond Fitness center, Blatt PE Fitness center, Apmnt Basement, Pantry, Russell House, Department, MM's Room/corridor, ........

* CLIFF: da place, our HOME, we did spend most of da time here. Well it was Room # 613 officially but if yu dont find me here then chk out #512, #313. We wud be sitting there ripping someone's skin off !!!!

*Strom, Blatt: da place where we spent more time thatn our Comp Sci Dept. It pretty much started with TableTennis. But we have already covered Soccer, Squash,Racket-Ball, Badminton, Lawn-Tennis, Volley-Ball, and most important and deeply coveted "GYM"

*Apmnt Basement: Well this is the place where we all hang out, when we are done with spending time at apartment or strom. Be it 7 am in da morning (no sleep all nite), or be it 3am with chilling wind blowing us of. I also remember those times when we had a good round of drinks and then came down, sat on stairs and all set to play "antakshari". Some great memories.

*Pantry: I wonder as to how this name was coined. Well I am talking about "Gas Station". Its a 3 min walk from our apartment. We have hardly been there for refueling our Car :D. Its mostly devoted to Coffee, Chips, and the best reason to be at pantry was/is spend time. We mostly go there for no reason!!!! its just about going out for a walk..

*Russell House: da most happening place on campus. Tha place where you can find free food (hehe) or for that matter anything that you can get "FREE", good concerts, cultural fests , and what not...we generally had a great time there, having food at Taco, BK....and yeah most importantly if you want to check out some southern beauty, then this is the place to be. I am pretty much sure that no where in the campus can you find such abundance of beauty with this density and intensity :P

*Department: not the place where we spend most of our time :D yeah definitely not. I have nearly attended all class rooms but just the first lecture of every course. Never even thought of attending more than 5 classes per course(I dont belive in class room teaching). Was thr for most of my tests and all related stuff but definitely not in class rooms. Offcourse you can find us sitting outside dept on da stairs again (desi style).

*MM's Room/corridor: If am in Dept, it either means I have a test or else be assured to find me infront of our dear Advisor's office. I personally(even my friends) have had a great experience with this guy. I will definitely make it a point to write a full story about this "nasty creature". Least to say, you are missing fun/sarcasm in life if you havent met him.

....

More to come soon....

NY seems, THE place to be.
Not more than 8 days ago, I was at NY attending the job fair. It was a 48 hour non-stop
trip(definitely not a pleasure trip). Even tomorrow I am going to NY. This time its even less that the last one, this time its about 15 hours.

Lets c.
Next time I go to NY, I will spend atleast some years over there :) .
Atleast I wish.

TOW da pace of life

It was just yesterday when I was celebrating New yr 06 with my friends at Columbia, nd not far, is what we are going to celebrate NEW YR 07 !!!!!!!

Today I was wondering as to how fast this clock ticks. It really does. It was only until yesterday that I was back there in India working with TCS, living at home with family, going to Colg, njoying school life. Nd here I find myself nearly completing my Master's degree at US. I really wonder how time flies offff.

So many things occurred, so many things changed, so many are about to change and many more are lurking in the dark ....waiting for their opportune moment.

JOB front :D

Well, after a 1.5 yr long journey, finally Master's course is coming to an end, hopefully .....fruitful end !!!!! Job hunt is on top of my mind and am working/preparing for the interviews and going through hell lot of things. Too many things to do in very short span of time. But to be frank I am having a great time.

During the entire course work, I had never been so busy. I just cruised though it as if it was my 12 th grade exam. I was never ever serious towards my course and just had to finish it somehow. I always had this urge to do something BIG in life but then I had really lost the streak and was going low on self esteem. I was kinda having this feeling that somehow I have lost "THE THING"., until recently. I have started working a bit more towards my interviews. Giving that extra effort to make it up for the lost confidence. No kidding, its paying me back.

I believe I am getting that confidence back and I wish that this phase continues for the time to come. I really want to thank my dad again for boosting my confidence when I was going low on all counts!!!! I also wish to thank my few old friends who helped me get back to my normal self. Three cheers....yu rock people .

With all this and many more issues, one most imp thing is that,

TODAY I GOT MY FIRST OFFER LETTER (leaving TCS offer post BE) Master's program.
Got two more interviews scheduled today..

I need luck and wishes to clear them all ..

Thank you all for being thr.

*NY trip
*My entertainment...

TOW da Colukabki

As always, today I opened my mailbox and was definitely not surprised to see the number of Fwd's that I had in my Inbox. After the " Happy Diwali " mails settling down its again time for the usual forwards. The quality of fwd's these days, well what to say ..I guess we all know.

I remember when I was working in TCS, I used to enjoy each and every forward like any other S/W employee today does.....Unfortunately, times change and so do forwards. It was just 25 dayz back that I mailed one more fwd asking all my friends to "not fwd such crappy mails" but here I am today with one more of them.

nd today it has nearly surpassed its own limits of utter degradation.

Today we have one more disease called " Colukabki ". hahahhaa God save those poor souls who really are suffering from this newly coined disease. Guyz, GET A LIFE !!!! before forwarding a mail atleast think once .... ponder a bit ...
GOOGLE IT man !!! so that you don't make fool of yourself !!!!

don't just do it because your friend did it....

I really don't want to start every single day with such crappy mails bogging me down...

TOW da Diwali gifts

Its Oct'20 DIWALI time in India.......

nd I am saying "in INDIA" coz yeah here its just another weekend. I am so missing being at home at this point of time, being with family, with relatives and friends and having a gala time.
Each and every family back home is like preparing for this big day...pooja, diye, all clothes and everything new and lighted up !!!!

All said and done I am sitting here in my room and suddenly my roomi calls me and is like " nikhil, aaja kuch packed dabba aaya hai " and before he could finish the sentence, I knew what it was ....my frnds aunt lives here at NJ and she generally sends sweets and stuff on big occassions. I am telling you, we all were so excited to just see that packed thign and all devoured on it immediately. We were like "oye #$%^#$^ mujhe bhi de...." , " aey @#@$ pura mat kha...jaan se maar dunga" and all sorts of alluring slang was already on its way...just that, it-might-get-over-before-I-taste-it -syndrome was way tooooooo important. Not just figurative-speach but evenI wanna say something...

Never before had diwali gifts mattered so much in life.......
I wish, if even I had relatives in US, who would gift me on all such occassions.............

Anyways Happy Diwali all.
Hope you all have a great time ahead.

TOW da "about me" section and "split persona"

The other day I was reading, "about me" section in my orkut profile. I was amazed at the way I had described myself. It was definitely true and pertinent. The only condition being, every word in it was true for a particular "span of time". They very next moment I am a different person with different mood and varied aspirations. When I see it now, I can actually categorize the "about me" section in three different "about me(Nikhil)"s , courtesy orkut profile. My Orkut Profile link.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The kid inside, who loathes to grow up, who loves to live in his dreamz.....sayz :
"Current Fav SONG: La isla bonita(Alizee, France)
Now thats how, one wants to start da day ..
gorgeous smile, sweet expressions..
Her eyes... !!!
chk out for yourself
http://youtube.com/watch?v=SjwCAifhoPY"

The grown up guy inside, who has seen a glimpse of da world, who has gone through his share of ups and downs....sayz :
"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life:
"IT GOES ON"
On a lighter note, I stand for freedom of expression, doing what you believe in, and going after your dreams."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The matured person inside, who finally understands that ultimately its your "family" where you can seek solace....sayz :
"
Ghar asave ghara sarkhe
nakoch nustya bhinti
tithe asava prem jivhaha
nakoch nusti naaati!!
...
..
ya ghartya tun pillu udave
divya gheoni shakti
aakanshache pankh asaave
umbhartya ver bhakti "
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I really really believe, to a given situation, I can react in three different ways.
It totally and completely depends upon which "Nikhil" is supposed to react !!!
"da child , the grown up guy or da matured person !!!!!

I think everyone(no offense intended whatsoever) has got a split personality.
Just that they are not "man" enough to say it out loud and clear.

TOW da busy weekend

It was weekend. Yet no post. Yeah ...had no time to come nd add another post over here. It was kinda busy weekend with too many things on my mind.

Here it is:
FYI, I am definitely not over ALIZEE. Number of Video visits is increasing with every passing second.

FYKI, we had our first volleyball match on sunday and luckily we won. To be frank opposing team was not that competent. We are expecting a better team the coming sunday. Well apart from any other thing I am enjoying being there in some tournament after some real long time.

nd did I mention about my new found craze for marathi songs. Yeah, I was listening to few marathi songs, specifically Bhaav geeta. I remember my grand ma ..listening to them when I was there in INDIA. I was never ever amazed or took interest in them. It was only yesterday that I found a link to "Prathama tula vandito". This song had a pacifying effect and left me with no option but to search for few more of its kind.

I ended up with:
"Prathama tula vandito" , "Utha utha ho sakalika", "Kuthe shodishi"," uthi uthi gopala" , "keshava Madhava" and the best one was "tuja maagto me aata".

I also searched "Baal geeta" and landed with
"Gori Gori paan fula sarkhi chan" , Asava sunder chocolate cha bangla", "Yere yere pavsa" and many more.

I am searching for sites to download them.....If ny one knows or has .mp3, .mpeg or ny file format for that matter, then pliz let me know...

Currently: Planning to gift one marathi songs Cd to my dad and grandma.
Current Song: Gori Gori pan fula saarkhi chan, dad mala ek vahini aan [:P]

TOW Gorgeous Smile !!!!

It was exactly 2 am in the morning. Strangely enough I was studying....
I was searching for few songs on youtube which might have helped me being awake.

Just then My friend told me about this song, French lady, ALIZEE singing, LA ISLA BONITA in a concert. I searched it on youtube and luckily got the link. And there I was ...sitting right in front of the PC ....absolutely awe-struck. I think more than anything else I was enthralled by her eyes, her elegance .....her heavenly smile.

Well to be frank, the thing is .......C'mon I know you are not reading this ....olrite chk out da pic below

Isn't that smile/look, one thing you wanna wake up to.
I wonder....I wish ....

I watched this concert-song of her for like 20 times at a stretch. I was there in the lab till 5 30 am and believe it or not, "Alizee" was online with me :)

The moment has passed but still some how I cant get over the Alizee-elegance. I wish some day I meet her or else she comes and meets me after reading this post of mine.

TOW the dream come true.

I always knew that it was fake, but still had this urge to visit the whole fight sequence "LIVE".

Past:
I remember I used to collect pics, cards, ....even play games or even exchange all that with other friends so that I could have a good collection. I remember those 36-pic-in-one-poster for just 18 bucks. Back then 18 was really too much to ask for, specifically when mom had no intention of helping for the same. At times I also remember stealing money from mom's purse ( I was such an idiot ) so that I could buy those posters. I used to go out for buying tooth-brush which had a market price of 18:50 and I used to take away that remaining 1:50. It was always simple maths,
DAD (20) - Purchased_Item(18.50) = chota_sa_nikhil's_profit ( 1.50) .
Anyways, I was even caught many a few times doing the same. And out of my hundred and one TO DO list in America, watching WWF live was one of the imp ones(barring other "most" imp ones.... **** ....).

Back to reality:
So yesterday I had this chance to go and visit a live WWF MONDAY NITE RAW in the coliseum here at Columbia, SC. I was more than excited to say the least. Afterall it was like a dream come true. Luckily we even got seats pretty close to the ring. And to my surprise we were all laughing and rolling during the entire 4 hour show( let me say ..drama). It was so FAKE and MADE UP. They didn't even touch each other while hitting. It was all acting, pathetic acting. Seated, so near the ring, we could actually see them making fake moves. Undertaker, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Triply-H, Edge, Tori, Ric Flair, ..... were all there.
What I really enjoyed was the atmosphere, the blasts, the Booo's, the mammoth arena....
To cut the long story short, the ambience was electrifying.

fortunately and Unfortunately no more stealing in future and no more posters.

One more dream has come true.....though with more of its realistic touch.

TOW SQUARE ROOT function.

Its weekend.

*Saturday evening: Asked senior for car, luckily he agreed, hence went for dinner with a friend. Had a good time. more importantly it was my first encounter with Manual gear transmission. I know she was a bit scared of my drivng but then I returned back home safe,so no worries :)

1*Saturday nite Movie.

2*Sunday afternoon: Interesting discussion on SQUARE ROOT function.

*Sunday nite Indian restaurant buffet followed by one more movie, hyderabad blues.

I guess it was a good weekend.

LEGEND:

2* : Here's some food for thought. Today I had to challenge my whole school of thoughts(atleast related to SQUARE ROOT function). Till date I believed that
....alright guys before I go on with this let me put forward an interesting math thing infront of ya..

say, y = SQRT(x) and x = 9 then y = ?
.
.
y = +/- 3. Isnt it ???
Well those of ya, who agree with this pliz continue reading ahead,
those who dont, pliz dont.[you are free to laugh at my ignorance, :( ].

Well for all others, in that case, y = +3 and only +3. The other case of -ve value is mathematically incorrect. The fact being, domain of a "square root" function is defined to be just "POSITIVE".
EUREKA !!!!! EUREKA !!!!!
Before anyone comes forward and challenges me for the same, pliz dont, go ahead and google a bit on this issue. Use Matlab or go and use any graph plotter. You would be dumbstruck, the way I was !!!

1*After long time we( count_start = 6) sat together for movie -- "NEW and NOT_SEEN" movie. If I am not wrong, most of us have already watched RDB, Hum-Tum, Lakshya, Andaz apna apna, RHTDM, Border, DCH, Hera-Pheri, DDLJ, ......like thousand times till date. But today we were getting ready for "Pyar k side effects". Name sounds really cheezzzzy but recently came across rave reviews for the same...... Good movie. Worth watching atleast once ( count_end = 3).

Current state: Dumbstruck
Current song: Basically its movie time :)

TOW da B'day - Parties ~~~

Its Oct' 7 ND more specifically, my roomies bdy. We had arranged a small party at home with all friends from Cliff coming at our place at about 11 30 pm. Its 12:00, Cake time ~~~~

Cake---Pizza---Drinks---taunts---going out for a walk---Drinks again :) ---more Bakar ---

Its 5 30am.....Just three guys standing, rest all already dreaming.
I am also tired----> "Good night(Hopefully RSD: Romantic Sweet Dreams)".

This is how it goes for us over here at US. lets go back to the ol' days.....

First 5-6 Birthdays: Obviously I hardly remember anything of these birthdays except for the cute pics with my family. They celebrated it more than what I did. Cheers to Them :) .

Age 7 - 12(may be): hahah these were bit different. "Happy Bday" song in school, Distributing chocolates, wearing new clothes in school(one of da few dayz when you can wear anything else but school Uniform :P ), may be a small party followed by nice and interesting gifts from friends.
Talking about gifts...they usually sum up to greeting cards, Wall hangings, wind chimes(I gifted them so many times) and mostly those soft toys. Cheers to them tooo.

Age 13 - 18(High School - junior College ): Now here we are...on the verge of understandings "NEW" things in life- expecting more from life-expecting more from someone special, special attention-New clothes--Bigger gifts--taking friends to restaurants--Dance-masti-- interesting gifts--but still everything was in a controlled format. I guess this was the time when I had real hard time selecting gifts. I guess we all had.....

Age 18 - 21 (Engg College): Awesome time. Great parties-late night calls-very special gifts.
Day starts with canteen parties. Now this was the best part: anyone and everyone you know in college comes to you --wishes you --and orders something, mostly dahi samosa/noodles. You might not have seen/talked to this person during your entire college life but its a pleasure to treat them on your day...even I had many such opportunities and being an opportune person, never missed a single one !!!!! anyways coming to evening, wow, everyone gathers at some place. Few get their cars and off we are to some restaurant..obvsly BIGGER and BETTER restaurants. Lotsa dance -- lotsa masti. I remember at harshi's party when we danced/shouted so much that da whole restaurant was following us :P (For your info that place is closed now, nd people wonder y !!!) . At reicha's party, she exerted like hell to teach us a game and MANN it was awesome. Contri for gifts...coming home late night...sab ladkiyon ko unke ghar tak leke jao(their parents had faith in us :P). I would like to admit here something. This was the time when I really started missing bday's with my parents. They used to wait for me to come home but I was out wid my friends. Back then, I thought that it was OK but now I realise that its definitely not done and definitely NOT OK . Anyways, happens ..??
Interestingly there were no drinks except for soft drinks. No one even thought of it.

But in all it was really sweet time with all friends around and I really really miss those golden dayz !!!

Age 24 ( US ): Now its same old day with just a pinch of excitement. Room-mates arrange a small party. USUAL cake and songs but this time it is accompanied by "DRINKS" and this time not "soft" for sure. Few drink....Few have to be forced --few succumb to da force-- few dont.
Then there is this set of people who never drink so they stay put with "soft drinks". I truly respect their decision but to be frank I dont fall in their Category. Usual masti-- no dance-- no big games like what we had during engg college--nohting. And more often than not...its the same routine for all the birthday parties...We wish to do somehitng new everytime but unfortunately no success till date. Late night conversations in that DIZZY stage with few blabbering all crap, making absolutely no sense but still night goes on nd strangely we have fun...atleast we pretend we do !!!! Next morning(actual day) bday boy is sitting next to me doing some assignment, we are watching one ABCD movie, no food till now -- nothing special for da day. I am not saying that we dont have fun ..just that, am wondering about the transition I have been thru ...

When my birthday comes, I am so gonna miss my family, my old set of friends and those parties.
I wonder if we are going to reach a point in life, when, we would try and celebrate this day, like we used to !!!!

TOW the first blog

I guess its been a lot too much of FRIENDS series.
Those who are not aware of the acronym TOW should immediately go and watch FRIENDS.

Neways, Its exactly 3 29 am nd I am writing this first blog of mine.
Since long time I have been waiting to do this blogging but was postponing it for some reason or the other. I am happy that today finally the day has come.

The sole reason behind this being, I want to penn down whatever I think/do/go through.

Well, to say the least, I would like to thank you(whoever you are !!! ) for visiting my profile.
